MATCH PREVIEW: Millonarios – Independiente Santa Fe

It’s now or never the type of match. The chances of qualifying for the playoffs and Copa Libertadores is becoming slimmer every time they fail to win a game. Jorge Luis Pinto, in the post-match press conference against Junior, showed confidence and believes that his team will qualify. He believes that his team has been gradually improving but has suffered from poor decision-making by the referees that influenced the final score.

Millonarios in the past five league matches; they have lost four games. It’s alarming for the club and the fans. At this rate, most people predict that Millonarios will not qualify due to these past results. There are two games left until the regular season is over, and out of the six possible points, Millonarios only need four points to keep the dream alive. In all 2018 and 2019, the Ambassadors have not defeated Independiente Santa Fe in official matches. In other words, the last time that they won was just before winning the 15th league title. Understandably, the fans may have some doubt over the team, but the other fans remain hopeful and have confidence in breaking the winning less streak in the derby.

Independiente Santa Fe in the past nine league matches, they have won seven times. It’s been a while they last lost to someone. It makes the team have motivation and determination to keep going with the momentum and especially that their main rival is g0ing through some rough patches. Jefferson Duque has netted five times this season and assisted three goals. He’s an all-around striker, and it’s vital to keep a tab on him throughout the match. Maicol Balanta is also a crucial player for them; he has netted four times and assisted twice. The Cardinals are only a victory away from qualifying for the playoffs.

Felipe Jaramillo is back in the roster after completing a match suspension, and Andres Roman is suspended for this match. Jorge Luis Pinto called more attacking players than defensive players for this match. Could he try a new tactical approach tonight?

Predicted Lineup:

Wuilker Fariñez; Jair Palacios, Alex Rambal, Luis Payares, Felipe Banguero; Jhon Duque (C), Cesar Carrillo; Juan David Perez, Juan Camilo Salazar, David Silva; Jose Guillermo Ortiz
