The second semester in the last two years has been a nightmare for the Ambassadors, except for the time when Miguel Angel Russo helped the team win the league title against Santa Fe. This time around seems not to be the exception for a disappointing second semester, and the motivation to play the Copa Libertadores is fading with the game after game.
The defense in this season has had a lot of troubles, and Jorge Luis Pinto has tried different combinations of players and tactics to make it work. Against Junior, Millonarios started with three center backs, and it worked well besides for the first minutes ten minutes of the match when the defense wasn’t fully synchronized.
Again, the referee was going to affect the course of the match as it also happened notoriously against Union Magdalena. Roldan didn’t award a penalty for Millonarios and awarded an inexistent penalty to Junior, which Wuilker Fariñez amazingly blocked it on his return to the starting eleven. Also, when the match was about to end, the referee gave an unfair red card to Andrés Felipe Román, mostly driven by his attitude towards a simple foul decision.
The Ambassadors had a decent visit to Barranquilla, owning the possession of the ball for most of the match and created a couple of dangerous situations in a very tight game. Unfortunately, a goal from Daniel Moreno, in the 60th minute, was enough to decide the match in favor of Junior. That left the Ambassadors with no error margin for the last two games of the league.
