MATCH PREVIEW: Millonarios – America de Cali

Jorge Luis Pinto, in the press conference, mentioned numerous about the defense. He explained that the team needs to work harder in the defensive phase of the game. The careless mistakes have been affecting their performance and have made the team lose valuable points at home and away from home. Some fans throughout different social media outlets have expressed their unsatisfaction with the current starting 11 players. They would rather see ex-academy players like Kliver Moreno, Breiner Paz, Andres Llinas, Juan Camilo Garcia, and Jorge Rengifo, play more often. Jorge Luis Pinto said it’s not the time for them to play, and he would much instead focus on the experienced players.

Millonarios have not won in the past three league matches, and it’s endangering their qualification to the league’s playoff. There are four games left in the league. They will be facing four strong teams, America de Cali, Junior, Independiente Santa Fe, and Rionegro Aguilas. Out of the 12 possible points, they only need four points to qualify. America de Cali stopped Millonarios from qualifying to the final in the previous season, and most of the players are still hurt. The journalists and fans expect to see a hard-fought match.

America de Cali’s manager, Alexandre Guimarães, is hanging by a thread. If the Red Devils lose tonight, he will most likely be sacked because of the consecutive poor results. The team is currently sitting sixth in the league table, and they are closer to being eliminated than qualifying for the playoffs. Their top goalscorer is Michael Rangel, an ex-Millonarios striker. He has netted eight times this season, and Carlos Sierra and Yesus Cabrera have assisted four times. These three players are essential to them, and we must keep our eyes on them throughout the match.

Predicted Lineup:

Jefersson Martinez; Andres Roman, Deivy Balanta, Luis Payares, Felipe Banguero; Jhon Duque (C), Cesar Carrillo; Hansel Zapata, Juan Camilo Salazar, Juan David Perez; Fabian Gonzalez
