Millonarios won 2-1 against America in the first match of the playoffs. The spectators and the fans expect to see the team continue their positive run from the league into the playoffs. Jorge Luis Pinto was asked about a few players that will not feature in tonight’s match. Andres Roman and David Silva were shown a red card against America and Felipe Jaramillo and Alex Rambal got injured in this same match. Luis Payares was already in the medical department. These players will be watching the game from the stands. He explained that he had good backups and said that Roberto Ovelar might feature in the game.
The Ambassadors has been stable at home this season, and Union Magdalena lost 4-0 in their last visit to Bogota. Roberto Ovelar had scored a hat trick, and Juan David Perez scored from a free kick. The manager hopes to get a positive result from this game as they did before. Jorge Luis Pinto will replace Andres Roman with Jair Palacios and may replace Alex Rambal with Breiner Paz. He said Cesar Carrillo will replace Felipe Jaramillo and is still unsure who will replace David Silva; it’s between Eliser Quiñones or Santiago Montoya. Players like Andres Llinas and Juan Guillermo Dominguez may be on the bench.
Union Magdalena, on the other hand, lost 3-1 to Deportivo Pasto in Santa Marta in the first match of the playoffs. The team spent most of this season outside of the top 8 and in the last matchday, they squeezed themselves into the final playoff spot. It shows that their performances throughout this season has been inconsistent and have been weak outside of Santa Marta. They played ten games outside of Santa Marta and won only twice; 1-0 against Rionegro Aguilas and 1-0 against Atletico Bucaramanga. They lost four times; against Deportivo Cali, Millonarios, Cucuta, and Deportes Tolima. The remaining four matches ended with a draw; against Atletico Huila, Independiente Medellin, Junior, and Envigado. As mentioned before, they are an inconsistent team, and they could pull an upset in Bogota.
