Millonarios won 3-2 yesterday against Atletico Huila. The Ambassadors are currently sitting in second place with 12 points in five games.
Before the rain began in El Campin, emotions were already all over, and Millonarios was reigning on the pitch. At the beginning of the match, Juan David Pérez had an excellent chance to score the opening goal of the game, but instead, it was Atlético Huila who scored after a header in a free kick, and there was a misunderstanding between Matias de los Santos and Wuilker Fariñez.
After conceding the goal, Millonarios started to dominate the game and showed the best passing skills so far in this new season. With Pérez and Silva working on the flanks, Montoya with the dangerous passes, Ovelar moving all over in the penalty box and pivoting for the midfielders, Carrillo and Jaramillo, that excelled both in attack and defense, Millonarios were posing a massive threat to Atletico Huila’s defenders in the first half.
Within a few minutes, Millonarios turned the game around after Carrillo scored a brace following with great passes from Montoya. Pérez played one on one in the right wing and scored the third goal and missed an excellent chance to go home with a brace.
However, Millonarios lost concentration at the beginning of the second half. Palacios who lost the ball to Hechalar allowed him to score the second goal for Atletico Huila through the left wing.
With a goal advantage, Millonarios executed what they do best, managing the possession of the ball and the game time. After Payares was sent off, the team had to change some changes and defend the score in their half.
This victory brings the Ambassadors closer to the top of the table. This team is prepared to fight for the championship with a good tactic and motivation.
