Valencia, Paez, and Florez were called up

Jader Valencia and Diego Paez were called up to represent the U-20 national team to face Ecuador in Pasto, Colombia and Tulcan, Ecuador. The manager of the U20A team, Nelson Florez, was also called up to become the assistant manager and help Arturo Reyes. The team will continue preparing for the 2019 South American Youth Football Championship that will take place in Chile between January 20th and February 13th.

Jader Valencia has made several appearances in the first team, and the manager has used him as a sole striker or sometimes as a left winger. Most fans believe his best match was against Corinthians in Brazil and he played as a left winger. Diego Paez is a center back and is a regular starter for the U20A team. Depending on his performance with the national team, he could have a chance to debut in the professional team with Millonarios in 2019.

In previous editions, Millonarios had some of their players representing the youth national team. Some were well known like Alex Diaz in the 2009 edition and Pedro Franco in the 2011 edition. There were others that didn’t often play like Leonardo Castro in 2009, Juan Sebastian Villate in 2011, Sergio Villarreal in 2015, and Breiner Paz in 2017. Other players were in the process but weren’t called up like Daniel Torres in 2013 and Stiven Vega in 2017.

In this current process, Kliver Moreno and Juan Esteban Moreno were called up. So far Arturo Reyes has called up four players from Millonarios since he was appointed as the new manager for the U20 national team in December of 2017.
